Discover Kanazawa’s History app for iPhone and iPad

Kanazawa is one of Japan’s best-preserved castle towns and a major tourist destination for millions. “Discover Kanazawa’s History” is an app for self-guided tours that allows you to learn about aspects of Kanazawa’s major attractions that you might not be aware of when visiting them on your own. It will show you old photographs and artwork of the city, telling you about the historic back streets where time seems almost to stand still, point out the city’s oldest building, tell you how the city began, the truth about the “samurai district” and the “ninja temple,” and lots of other fascinating discoveries.
 
■What this App Does
・You can see period photographs and artwork, complete with detailed explanations, selected by Dr. Jeremy Phillipps, a historian of modern Japan.
・You can choose your destination either from the list, or directly from the map pins.
・GPS navigation shows you where you are on the map in relation to the tourist sites.
・There are no set routes. The app will show you where the nearest tourist sites are, so you can go wherever suits you.
